Artist Feature: Sylvia Bueltel

Sylvia’s aesthetic and aura go perfectly with the art she creates. Her caramel colored hair and effortless pout match her minimalistic wardrobe to a tee. I was encapsulated by the effortless golden chain draped around her neck and the simplicity of her camel colored trench coat.

I asked Sylvia about her recent pieces and her motivation for creating, “My art for the past year and a half has to do with loss and grief,” said Bueltel. ” My most current piece is called ‘Surprise?’ it essentially emulates the emotions you feel when you initially experience grief.”

“My goal when creating this piece was to leave the viewer confused and disoriented like grief does” said Bueltel. The piece is not just a singular component it has many aspects. ” I have a birthday cake made entirely out of wax and essential oils. I have balloons and confetti that say sorry for you loss, it's quite complex.”

The project ‘Surprise?’ that Sylvia has been working on will be debuted as her senior exhibition at Loyola University Chicago’s LUMA art museum. She will be performing some of her art live on March 25th from 4 to 6pm. At the session she will be popping 20 balloons, each filled with different confetti meant to represent the past 20 years of her life.

Along with her upcoming performance piece, one of the artists latest endeavors has been setting up her own Etsy shop where you can buy pieces of her work. Minimal art for modern individuals, Sylvia Art Studio is the perfect place to snag a piece of her gentle watercolors or enchanting single stroke pen drawings.
